The WISE Hall & Lounge is a long-running live music, arts and community venue in East Vancouver. Located near Commercial Drive, the WISE features an upstairs performance hall and a downstairs neighbourhood lounge.
Its varied programming includes live music, concerts, festivals, dance, arts events, fundraisers and community gatherings. Over the years, the WISE has become a familiar part of Vancouver’s independent music scene, hosting everything from punk and metal to indie and alternative artists in an intimate setting.
The organization traces its roots to the WISE Social & Athletic Club, founded in 1958 by members of Vancouver’s Welsh, Irish, Scottish and English communities. The club moved into its current Adanac Street home in 1963, and the space has since grown into a broader community arts and performance venue.
