A home for Gothic culture and community
Love of Gothic is a place for people who find beauty, fascination, comfort, or just a little fun in the darker side of life.
Gothic culture stretches far beyond any single style, genre, or community. It can be found in music and fashion, but also in films, books, art, architecture, history, folklore, food, local events, independent businesses, and countless other places.
Love of Gothic brings those things together in one place, making it easier to find something you already love and perhaps stumble across something you didn’t know you were looking for.
Our purpose
Why we built this place
There are plenty of places online to find Gothic content, but much of it is scattered across different websites, social platforms, directories, groups, and communities.
Love of Gothic was created to bring more of it together.
The goal is to build a growing resource for Gothic and alternative culture where you can find musicians, movies, television, books, events, businesses, recipes, articles, games, and other things worth exploring.
Some visitors may come looking for a new band. Someone else might be searching for a movie to watch, an event happening nearby, a gothic recipe for dinner, or an independent business to support.
All of those interests have a place here.
What you will find
Gothic Is Bigger Than a Label
We aren’t interested in deciding who is “Goth enough.”
Love of Gothic uses Gothic and Goth as broad umbrella terms for the alternative culture we celebrate here. We know that Goth, punk, industrial, metal, darkwave, horror, dark academia, and the many other communities and interests represented on the site aren’t interchangeable. They each have their own histories, cultures, sounds, and identities.
We’re not trying to erase those differences.
Goth is simply where our own love of alternative culture began, so it’s the umbrella we’ve chosen for Love of Gothic.
You don’t have to use the same label. You don’t even have to agree with how broadly we use it here. If something falls somewhere within the strange, creative, darker, alternative corners of culture, there’s a good chance we’re interested in it.
And sometimes we wander even farther than that.
Don’t Put Us in a Box
Why You Might Find Some Unexpected Things Here
Not everything listed on Love of Gothic is Gothic or alternative in the strictest sense.
People in Gothic and alternative communities don’t suddenly stop having other interests. We watch mainstream movies. We read popular books. We play games. Some of us probably have very strong opinions about Pixar movies.
So you’ll find some of those things here too.
Sometimes something is listed because it has a clear connection to Gothic or alternative culture. Other times it’s here because members of the community enjoy it and want to talk about it from their own perspective.
That perspective is part of what Love of Gothic is about.
A movie doesn’t have to be Gothic for a Goth to have something interesting to say about it. The same goes for books, television, games, music, and everything else we consume.
So if you come across something and wonder, “Why is THAT on Love of Gothic?” there may be a very simple answer.
Because some of us like it.

At its heart, Love of Gothic is about helping people find things.
Browse performers and find music you haven’t heard before. Look through movies and television when you need something to watch. Find upcoming events. Explore businesses and creators. Save your favourites so you can find them again.
Then wander a little.
You might arrive because you were looking up a band and leave reading about folklore, saving a recipe, or adding a wonderfully strange movie to your watchlist.
That’s part of the fun.
BUILT TO GROW WITH THE COMMUNITY
A Growing Community Resource
Love of Gothic is still growing, and that’s intentional.
We don’t want this to become a static collection of listings that sits unchanged. Love of Gothic is meant to grow and breathe alongside the community it represents.
New performers, events, businesses, movies, books, recipes, articles, games, and other finds will continue to be added as the site develops. But what gets added is only part of the story.
We’ve created spaces for community members to save favourites, leave reviews, share events, and interact with the things they find here. As more people join and participate, those interactions will begin to shape the site too.
Over time, favourites and reviews will help create community charts, trending favourites, and other ways to see what people are watching, reading, listening to, playing, making, and loving right now.
And if something you love is missing, we want to hear about it. The community should have a hand in helping Love of Gothic grow.
There is a lot of Gothic and alternative culture out there, along with plenty of unexpected things our community loves.
We plan to keep looking for it.
