Roland Deschain is the last gunslinger, travelling across a vast and dying world in pursuit of the mysterious Man in Black. His journey takes him through an unforgiving desert and the remnants of places that suggest his world was once very different.
Along the way, Roland meets Jake Chambers, a young boy from another world who has somehow found himself stranded in Roland’s. The two continue together as Roland follows the Man in Black toward the mountains, where answers about his pursuit and the Dark Tower may finally be waiting.
But Roland’s obsession with reaching the Tower shapes every decision he makes. As his journey continues, the gunslinger must decide what he is willing to sacrifice in pursuit of the goal that has consumed his life.
The Gunslinger introduces Mid-World, Roland Deschain, the Man in Black, and the Dark Tower itself, beginning the quest that unfolds across the rest of the series.
