Arnie Cunningham is an awkward high school student with few friends and little confidence when he becomes obsessed with a battered 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine. Despite the car’s terrible condition and the concerns of his best friend, Dennis, Arnie buys it and begins restoring it.
As Christine returns to her former beauty, Arnie begins changing too. He becomes more confident and increasingly possessive of the car, while his relationships with Dennis, his parents, and his new girlfriend Leigh begin to suffer.
But Christine has a history of her own, and the people who threaten Arnie or damage the car have an alarming tendency to meet violent ends. Dennis and Leigh soon realize that Christine may be far more than an old car and that separating Arnie from her could prove deadly.
Christine combines supernatural horror with obsession, jealousy, friendship, and the darker side of teenage transformation.
