Skeleton Crew brings together a wide-ranging collection of Stephen King’s shorter fiction, moving through supernatural horror, science fiction, psychological terror, strange creatures, and threats hiding in otherwise familiar places.
The collection opens with “The Mist,” in which a mysterious fog engulfs a Maine town and traps a group of survivors inside a supermarket while deadly creatures move outside. “The Monkey” follows a sinister toy connected to a series of deaths, while “The Jaunt” takes space travel in a deeply disturbing direction.
Other stories include “The Raft,” where four college students become trapped by a deadly presence in an isolated lake, “Survivor Type,” about a surgeon stranded alone on a tiny island, and “Gramma,” in which a young boy is left alone with his frightening grandmother.
